What is of great importance is saving Iraq and its people from all the scourges, the cause of which have been some monopolistic policies and the exclusion of the others.
In the name of God the Compassionate and the Merciful.
Due to the existence of the urgent necessity, especially a good political solution, there will be an opportunity to end the suffering of the Iraqi people, to stem the bloodshed and the cycle of violence in our beloved Iraq. There is an opportunity to heal my conscience before God and before the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him and his family), and before the infallible [Imams] and the saints (peace be upon them) and before the my patient, struggling people, and especially as we are in the blessed month [Ramadan] of mercy, repentance, and forgiveness, therefore I call for the following:
Despite brother [Nouri al-] Maliki having embroiled himself and propelled us towards long-term security troubles and also huge political crises… and especially the cooperation of the Iraqi judiciary with him in turning the biggest bloc into the biggest coalition, despite all this, we remain convinced of the need for the brothers of the State of Law coalition to put forward a candidate for Prime Minister immediately, especially after the latest statement from Maliki to the effect that he will not step down as Prime Minister even to be replaced by a candidate from the State of Law coalition.
I say: Yes, the candidate must be from the State of Law coalition, considering that this is the largest bloc (including the National Coalition), there has been no disagreement on this. If a valid candidate is nominated from within State of Law, especially after the graceful departure of the Speaker of Parliament brother Usama al-Nujayfi, there will be an opportunity to end the suffering with the help of God.
At the same time, I stress the need to respect the National Coalition and include it within the legislative framework, if this is not done it will be empty [lack substance] which will lead to dire consequences as happened previously when the [apparatus of government] was monopolised by one side without the other. Whatever the political bloc is not important, what is of overriding importance is saving Iraq and its people from all the scourges that plague them, and the cause of which have been some monopolistic policies which have excluded others [from power].
We do not forget the recommendations of the Holy Marja’iya which remains, along with the people, awaiting for what the politicians will do on behalf of the oppressed people. For it is necessary to demonstrate the spirit of nationalism and paternalism for the in order to aim for the best and most reputable of the people and blocs, (may God grant success) – I mean replacing the two candidates – a step that will be praise worthy and thanked in this difficult circumstance through which the country is going.
