Important statement from His Excellency Sayid al-Qaid al-Mujahid Muqtada al-Sadr (may God preserve him) addressing a number of points around the US intervention in Iraq.
In the name of the Almighty.
The ‘Black House’ has decided to restart its attacks on the holy land of Iraq, the land of the saints, the righteous, and the infallible [Imams] (peace be upon them). Perhaps this US decision came following their regret for their nominal withdrawal which was built on the fierce military resistance of the heroes and the political resistance which made the cursed US-Iraqi agreement a net in the air [futile], in addition to the blessed popular resistance.
Therefore I say: should revert, we shall revert, and God will make for those that fear a victory for the believers and the mujahidin. As we first made you taste the heat of our fire and might, so we will make you taste the woes of this decision of yours, surely in the future this will be a cause of your regret and decline.
Bearing this in mind, we have a few points.
- The Iraqi government must not cooperate with the occupier, even if it were under the pretext of [combating] Da3sh. For Da3sh has no existence outside the imagination, it is an American construction, of the mental approach of colonial deconstruction.
- The mujahidin in any region of Iraq that is usurped, in the case an intervention by US forces, or any other forces, by land, sea, whether directly or indirectly, must withdraw from these regions as quickly as possible. For there is no cooperation with the unjust, and the unjust is haram.
- I hope there will be a popular reaction in the form of protests, and other forms expressing the true opinion of the people and their lack of sympathy with the occupier and reflecting the image that they are capable of solving their problems themselves.
- The international bodies such as the Conference of Islamic States, the Arab League, and United Nations and humanitarian organisation must prevent this decision for it will be the beginning of the widening of the influence of the extremists in the East and the West.
Let the slogan of we who follow al-Sadr be: “The hawza and colonialism are incompatible, and there will be no deviation from it”.
